A sculptor has proven you really can see the world in a grain of sand – after carving this incredible church from one tiny granule stuck in the head of a needle. Talented Willard Wigan, 52, created the sculpture of St Bartholomew’s Church in Churchdown, Gloucestershire, after his girlfriend Rachel Slade, 40, bet he couldn’t do it. The ”painstaking” piece of art, which is the size of a full stop in a newspaper, even comes complete with stained-glass windows. It is his latest in a serious of incredible works made from single grains of the beachy stuff that are so small they cannot be seen by the naked eye. See swns story SWSAND. 25 March 2020.
